My 1/72 scale aircraft

Just checking in to say my progress has been very slow, and may continue to be, due to some personal medical issues I am dealing with. I didn’t get good news on my annual bloodwork and I have some tests ahead of me to get a proper diagnosis. Any prayers will be much appreciated and I will update once I know what’s going on or once I have some model progress to share. Be blessed!

See ya next time!

Hi Dean. I am very sorry to hear about your health. Hopefully, they can make the correct diagnosis soon, and I wish you a quick recovery.
Regards, Peter

Dean, without going through your entire thread, I was wondering if you use memory wire on biplanes ?

No sir, I use EZ Line…

I typically use black, fine .010” for my 1/72 biplanes. It stretches so much you can pull to tension and glue, and if you bump it, it won’t break or pull loose because it will just stretch! It’s like a super fine rubber band on a roll. Drill tiny hole and super glue on one end, then stretch and glue other end and hold until glue sets. That easy. ;)
I typically brush on matte finish varnish to get rid of ca glue shine. Then I paint bronze color on the end that would have the turnbuckle. Looks convincing at 1/72. Larger scales like 1/48 and 1/32 you can make turnbuckles to glue the EZ Line to.
Hope that helps. I’m sure there are videos on YouTube.

Thank you for the advice

OK, I guess I should explain without writing a book? ROTF

My annual blood work showed elevated white blood cells and lymphocytes along with smudge cells. That along with a swollen area inside of my left arm (potentially swollen lymph nodes) would indicate lymphoma.

So I went for an ultrasound, and the area under my arm was a benign collection of fatty tissue. First good news!

Next I went to the hematologist... and my last 3 years of blood work show a slow increase in WBC and Lymphocyte counts. But they are not escalating quickly. So the initial diagnosis is CLL, most likely stage 0 or 1 (blood testing underway to confirm), which is a very slow growing cancer that does not require treatment, unless it gets into advanced stages. So there is a possibility I could go the rest of my life and not need any type treatment. Only time will tell. My hematologist actually said if you could pick what type cancer you get, that would be one of the doctors first picks. Not sure how much consolation that is. But I guess I'll take it...as if I have a choice! So I remain optimistic and thankful that I have been spared a more aggressive life threatening cancer!

So I hope to resume my normal activities and get back to hobbies soon, now that I have some clarity and can breath a little easier.

ps - thanks for your prayers and well wishes

Not sure what CLL stands for but it sounds like what I have. Way back in 2024 I was diagnosed with an “undiagnosed lymphro-prolific desease.” They’ve been watching it ever since. Watching includes periodic tests and I’m in the midst of the third round of tests. At least the doctor said that I don’t need another bone marrow biopsy.

If you’ve got what I’ve got you’ve got many years of life ahead of you.

CLL is Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. CLL is predominantly diagnosed in older adults, many patients live a normal lifespan and die of old age related causes. If it advances there are newer targeted therapies (BTK and BCL-2 inhibitors) that significantly improve life expectancy. And if I understood correctly those are pills.
So I am in the watch and wait stage where I get regular blood work to keep an eye on progression. The main thing is it is not an aggressive life threatening cancer! So if I get to watch all my grandchildren graduate school and grow up, then I feel blessed! ;)
