Ahoy mates
Back at the helm after 14 years,
Building the bellerophon and struggling with the quarter galleries as the instructions are a bit vague ,any help please
And please please please if anyone has got a spare Bellerophon figurehead for sale preferably in the UK as mine has a leg missing
Beautiful model ,only a few gripes ATM ,the instructions are hit and miss at some stages, the bloody awful white metal casting of the stern decorations and the cannons look a bit toyish
Any tips on the build would be very much appreciated
Andy

I'm building Victory models Granado, & also find a lack of instructions with it, also the walnut 3mm, & some of the 5mm sheet is pretty much [IMHO] rubbish,(must be the species?) parts disentegrating in my hand when handling carefully. I'm having to make many replacements from box & pear, my MF70 is a 'life saver', time & time again.

For the quarter galleries, I found going bottom to top the best option for fit for all the decorative bits.

If you mean the underlying ply pieces, I left the pieces slightly flexible so that I could adjust them when gluing the window frames and in-between pieces in properly.
I also repeatedly offered the stern fascia up to the stern to check for alignment with the quartergalleries. The bottom of the stern fascia should align with the bottom of the lower window piece, and check that the topmost piece of ply does not cover the rounded window at the top of the stern fascia. I found that after lots of fiddling, the best alignment of the ply parts has my quarter galleries "droop" slightly off the sides of the hull, so they are angled slightly downwards to match the downwards curve of the bottom of the stern fascia.

I first did the curved piece in the middle, then the window frames above and below, and lastly the curved piece at the bottom. Slight gaps between the ply pieces are ok, as they can be filled with wood filler, and are mostly covered by the decorative strips (btw I hate those white metal strips, I'd strongly recommend just using more wood).

Good luck!
