I am very new to this genre. To be honest I have never built a ship from paper/card stock. I do have two in the stash though. And what I see here makes me very exited and the models here are so inspirational.

Hello Ettienne,I am very new to this genre. To be honest I have never built a ship from paper/card stock. I do have two in the stash though. And what I see here makes me very exited and the models here are so inspirational.

Thank you very much.Hello Ettienne,
A warm welcome to our forum.
I hope you feel right at home.
I have been looking at some of the models on the forum, and my I am very, very impressed by the detail on the technical side and the utter beauty of them on the "art" side. Thank you for your encoraging word and the pictures. Truly inspirational. Vielen DankHello Etienne,
cardboard is a great and forgiving material to build with. To me it is my Hobby as it is inexpenceive and costs only a fration of dealing with wood - and is much tidier.
For your start I do highly recommend Ab Hoving's article about the Hooker drawn by Af Chapman:

Have fun it is a hobby not a hurry.

It looks like this site is indeed a very good place to start. I see that Temu has some kit available. Not a big fan of Temu but at this stage it is the only place that I may get them from.Welcome aboard from Connecticut. The site has wonderful tools to help you on your journey. Here is a good place to start.
There are also numerous you tube videos that cover many aspects of this hobby.
I always recommend starting with a few starter kits of increasing complexity as I did. It can be frustrating to do an advanced kit that has little in the way of instructions or advice. Perhaps others in our group from South Africa can guide you on what beginners kits are available where you are located.
