Ethan Builds With Grandpa

We have a few squirrels, rabbits, ducks, raccoons, etc. I am sure you have a lot of wildlife on your land Paul! Lots of distractions! ;)

Ethan is here right now. He thinks a duck in a tree is the funniest thing he has ever seen ROTF ROTF ROTF.

We are calling this little Canadian guy ETHAN in your honour:

He loves this! He says this guy is 'so cute'!

Hello Ethan. I’m a little late responding here but I thought you may want to see some of the animals we get on our golf estate in Cape Town where I live:
Springbok:

Cobra

Mongoose

And a Caracal.

You have to be a little careful if you see a caracal or cobra but they do stay away from us……mostly

Cheers Grant

Cool pictures, Grant. You live in the middle of the Nature Channel! Ethan will be over later today for piano lessons and 'craft night' with grandma, I'll show him your pictures then. Let's see which one is his favorite!

I noticed that the cobra picture is somewhat blurry. You weren't a little nervous when you took the photo, where you? ;)
Good morning Russ. Luckily I didn’t take that photo. The only one I took was the mongoose as we have a family living under our deck out front. The rest were from other pics around the estate. There is a cool video of a mongoose vs Cobra fight on our estate taken by a golfer….Cobra got owned.
Cheers Grant

Whew! It sure has been a long time since I made any progress on my glow-in-the-dark pirate ship. I don't get to go to grandma and grandpa's house as much as I used to - and then there was kindergarten and lacrosse and swimming lessons and gymnastics and fishing and... well you understand. The life of a six-year-old can get pretty full!

But I am happy to report that grandpa and I worked on my ship a few days ago. Grandpa wanted to put on the masts, but I have been asking grandpa when we are going to paint - and eventually I wore him down! Yay!

Here I am painting my ship with glow-in-the-dark paint!

Grandpa says some people have a philosophical objection to painting ship models, but this was a highlight as far as I am concerned.

Unfortunately, when we tested my paint job the ship DID NOT GLOW IN THE DARK! I was pretty bummed, but grandpa said he would order different paint and we can try again. Grandpa says do-overs are part of building model ships. He said even HE does do-overs, so that made me feel a lot better.

I'm going fishing with grandpa next week! I hope I catch more fish than he does!

Ethan, Your ship looks great even if it doesn’t glow yet.

I suspect that while you have been busy with other activities Grandpa may have used all the glow-in-the-dark paint on the interior of Le Saint Philippe to avoid having to hide a bunch of messy wiring, and he filled your jar with regular paint, hoping you wouldn’t notice. Go easy on him though, he’s a good person.

Your painting looks very nice, Ethan.
Perhaps you must rub the hull gently like Aladdin did with his lamp to let it glow:

Who knows what happens then …….
