I'm not suggesting you do this... but... you could remove the beams and notch the bottom side of them to set them down 0.5 mm. That will look the same as notching the deck clamps and would be easier to do than cutting into the clamps at this point.

And if you want to get really sexy those joints were probably dovetails (which could be simulated by angle cutting the ends of the beams). Or maybe that's what you have - its hard to see on the photos...

Paul, great idea....currently mulling it over, not sure I want to pull off all the beams at this point. there are dovetails in the carlings? or are you referring to the end of the beams?

I don't have the monograph in front of me right now but a French ship would most likely have them in both places. The French were very fancy . The kit may be offering a simplification.

Looking at the plans from top and side, not seeing dovetails on ends of beams....LOL, My notches to begin with need improvement, Dove tails could be in light years for me! The carlings definitely have dovetails, and the pieces are made that way

Frames 16 and 17 complete....I am pressing them overnight with a brick paver, to ensure no warp while the glue drys, had a few warp on my last POF
