id like to build this boat but need info n plans to this boat or a similar build. the only information i can find is this valspar add.

the pikaninny won in 1919.

btw i have the base of this trophy, the boat is missing... the reason id like to build her.

If you are talking about the 18-foot micro-cruiser catboat Pickaninny designed by Albert Strange in 1919. why not contact The Albert Stange Accociation to see if they have plans available?

If you want the boat associated with Valentine's Valspar rather than the Pickanniny you may be able to acquire plans for the M.I.T. Tech Dinghy, which are preserved through the MIT Nautical Association and the Herreshoff Marine Museum registries.

In either case maybe send your picture to them to see what they have.

thats a good idea i will do that. i appreciate any leads I get.

i am interested in the boat that tops the trophy... the pikaninny. i dont know what type of race boats were completing n 1919 for this trophy.
 
You might also try researching old issues of Motor Boat Magazine. I believe that they may be online. Just looked it up. Motor Boat Archives on line. You’ll of course need to home in on the year otherwise it’s the needle in the haystack.

I did some more research and the ASA does not distribute plans, BUT, the plans should be available through the Mystic Seaport Museum who are supposed to have all available ASA plans and should be able to provide you with a copy for a price plus postage.

i did find a pdf for the mystic plans. but im not sure what type of boat the pikaninny is. it amazes me i cant find any record of the race or the boats in these competitions let alone anything on the trophy.

If you go to Duckworks.com you’ll find that you can buy plans for an Elco 26 motor yacht. Very similar to the boat shown on your trophy.
 
the name has given me a real pita looking it up... regardless, i should still be able to find the race or boat.

i checked duckworks but cant find the elco.
