I use bees wax on my rigging, basting glue for temerity knot tying and CA to secure complex finished knots some time.

Does any one use any thing to finish coat lines after put in place. I would like to accent the lines and eliminate any fuzz on the line.

It occurs to me I would like to get a finished look like the tared lines on the original ships of the 16th century.

I take acetone and cut parrafin wax into small shavings to dissolve in the former. Put into a small glass container and put in your rigging overnight and cap jar. Pick out your lines and squeeze between thumb and finger excess liquid then hang with a weight on the end to dry. Works wonders on fuzzy thread.

That sounds like an EXCELLENT technique! You don't get all the texture of the twisted strands buried on wax.
