I am starting the HMS TERROR model. I had built the HMS VICTORY 1/98 in which I put led lighting but not the flickering kind. I also since read an article by Gary Skuta and found it very interesting and informative and helpful for my new project. Does anyone know if there are updates to this article or newer ones that I might study?
Thanks for responding in advance,
Ted

Hi Ted, since you are starting the HMS Terror, we encourage to start a build log. This way if you have any questions we may able to help, or we may learn from you! This is a great way to share knowledge. Also, if you don't mind, can you share photos of your build HMS Victory. We love photos!

Hi Jim,
Thanks for reply.
I don’t know how to start a blog!
I will try and find out how and try it.

Ted, it's pretty easy to start a log, I learned it pretty fast, just click on the link Zoltan refers to. Greeting-

Hi,
Unfortunately I had to stop my build of HMS TERROR. Many pieces in the (a) series of parts, which included the deck were warped and some did not fit well on the keel. I have written Occre on ALL their contact lists re email, 8 emails to be exact, and have had no reply’s!!
Ages of sales, from whom I purchased the kit have been great and have included an order for my troublesome pieces with one of their orders,it seems it will be a LONG WAIT!
So I may be able to start late fall if my health issue doesn’t catch up to me by then!
Meanwhile I have solved my LED plan for lighting the Terror.
I have purchased 20 yellow flickering LEDs, they look really nice when lit. The flicker seems random and is a bright candle colour. They are a bit bright but for below deck it seems ok, though a little translucent dark enamel wash may tone them down. I haven’t done that yet and won’t until I have the keel, deck and bulwarks done.
The voltage of the power supply is 4.5 V DC
On each negative( short lead on the LED) I put a 56 Ohm resister
I then wired each LED with resister in parallel ( 20 of them)
I ran this for about 5 hours and it seemed ok.
I assume if you put 2 or more 4.5 Volt DC power supplies in parallel the length of time would increase, but that I am only speculating about.
When and if I get my parts and start my build I will try and post pictures.
Ted
