Discussion The Tool That Frustrated You Most – A Waste of Money?!

That vice with the yellow 'grippers', or whatever they be called, HAS at last come in useful. I used mine to clamp the assembled lower main top for Granado, while I drilled the holes for eyebolts & 'bird's nest' (aka crowsfeet). Will it be used again - dunno? I'm getting a fair amount of useage from my Proxxy saw, to make replacement parts from decent wood.

Umm… not quite. While I’ve never used this hand drill, the worst tool I’ve ever bought was the Arrowmax rotary tool. I probably ended up with a defective unit, but in terms of design, it should have been a better-engineered piece of equipment. Just my subjective opinion, of course.

Since commenting positively on your post, Jim, I rescind it! I bought mine in Sept '24, it's had its use in 4th speed, but over t he last coupla weeks I noticed it was getting slower, the speeds became:- 1)very slow; 2) slow; 3) slightly faster; 4) a wee bit faster, but no chance of drillig 0.8mm in brass. I pulled it apart - nothing obvious, quite intrigueing reduction box though. I cut the motor wires, kept the LED ring & battery - it makes a minature inspection lamp! My single speed Arrowmax is still going 4 yr on, still useful at times - only suitable for drilling wood. At least they do have decent drill bits, except they are retained in the box on magnets which in turn magnetise them, very annoying at times. Another annoying feature is the switch which is not; on/off, but; on/rev/off . I now use these:- the orange one cost £8.00 on ebay [tool only] at that price one can afford to bin it & buy another, if it only has a short life. The grey one was abouut £15.00, it has got a light on a separate switch, the on/off switch is a little awkward being at the end, & it's multi speed.
