    Hi

I am a complete novice in wooden ship modeling. I recently bought a secondhand model of Golden Hind by Genuwood, a Japanese company from 1980. The model was complete, except for the instruction manual. Now I am trying to locate instructions to start the project.

Hi guys, I'm very new to wooden ship modeling. I recently bought a model of the Golden Hind by Genuwood from 1980. It is complete except for the missing instruction manua I'm just wondering if anyone can help. It would be very appreciated.l.

I started my Golden Hind by Billing Boats in July 2017 and you're further along than I am. Great work!

New Midwest Kit (re) Release: The Skipjack 1:28

I have that ship kit and am 1/2 way complete! Good ship to build and not too taxing (after the Golden Hind work). Should be done with it in a couple of months.

    "Golden Hind"1:53 Mamoli

Back in 2006, I started building the Golden Hind from the MAMOLI set. It turned out to be the longest construction project of my life. It's been 20 years, and the model is still unfinished. In 2006, I assembled the frame and started covering it with the first layer of wood. In the next...

Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

Here are the anchors I bought for the Golden Hind. I think the metal shank looks OK as it is. I think maybe some paint or wood stain might improve the wooden part. For the metal bands, what advice is there for how to weather those so they are not so shiny??? Maybe they need to be blackened...

    Hi from Andalusia

Gone yer'sel Jimmy......a bit of retaliation on the vocabulary front. As an ex-army wannabe shipwright, I face the same linguistic challenges. But, it opens up a whole new level of insight...not to mention the potential answers to sneaky questions on pub quizzes here in Durham, aka 'hostile...

    Hi from Andalusia

The model was around 1m long and there was nothing to denote scale. My first model will be the old Airfix Golden Hind kit from 1977, so there wasn't much of direct relevance to that (in fact, there was very little in the way of Spanish ships from the 16th century, most of the models were 18th...

    Chinese Junk - Imai/Aoshima 1:60

John, could I bother you for a copy of the instructions? Mine are badly damaged by Katrina flood waters and are in Chinese, would yours be in English?, I've washed off all the dried mud and starting the pre-prep process.

Golden Hind 1/72 by Aifix with added rigging and details

I have just noticed (sigh) a fairly considerable error inthe Airfix bulkeads. Have a look at the deck and the bulkheads in the pic... If you wanted to go from point A to point B you would need to enter the door, follow the dotted white line to a set of stairs inside, exit through the circled...

Golden Hind scratch build 1:48 (based mostly on Aeropiccola plans)

Golden Hind 2 : At this point I decided to start another Golden Hind in a different style, for a different friend. For GH2, only areas where it differs significantly from GH1 will be covered.

Golden Hind scratch build 1:48 (based mostly on Aeropiccola plans)

...first planking. The second planking of hardwood (below the waterline) is a deviation from the original plan. According to my research on Golden Hind, some English galleons in the same time period had 2nd layer planking below waterline and/or below weatherdeck wale. For GH2, which will be...

Golden Hind scratch build 1:48 (based mostly on Aeropiccola plans)

Hi All~ After long consideration, I decided to repost substantial portion of my current build in the SOS site. I think this will probably take some time for me to finish up to the last post I made in the old MSW site. As I intended to send the posts to my friends who will be receiving GH1 &...

    Hi from Andalusia

...and figures, I feel like a new challenge so I have decided to build and rig a sailing ship – my first kit will be the Airfix 1/72 Golden Hind from 1977. When I look at posts here, I’m hugely impressed (and more than a little daunted) by the sheer amount of detail people manage to get into...

Spanish Galleon by Revell - Quick Build

...decide to make a galleon belonging to Spain (alas, this is a mistake!), then keep in mind that these galleons were painted completely differently. I also recommend redesigning the nose to at least minimally get rid of the English design elements. But it would be better if you made the Golden...

Viking Longship - tiny Aoshima model

Yes, me too! However I will try to discipline myself to finish my Chinese Junk first (while working on the Golden Hind simultaneously). Someone said to me the other day that I was a "model building machine" and I said no, I am a model buying machine. That is the quick part...

Spanish Galleon by Revell - Quick Build

...looking at the box, at the parts, and I'm laughing! This is the most classic version of a model of Francis Drake's English galleon, the Golden Hind. So, the "unnamed Spanish galleon" is just a marketing ploy. There are no parts of the Golden Hind in the kit that have been corrected, and...

    Chinese Junk - Imai/Aoshima 1:60

It just occurred to me. This Junk was supposed to be a light and easy alternative for when I needed a break from the Golden Hind. May not work out that way!
