Le Rochefort build log by OlivierF

After a few weeks of thinking and looking at the work completed, I’ve come to the hard decision of starting over on this project. I spent most of my adult work life as an engineer and project manager and the most important axiom (or rule) was always, “If the foundation isn’t level, square and...

    bandsaw blades

    HMS Warrior/Alfred 1781

over the years the Lumberyard sold timbering sets of Hahn's 1/8 scale Alfred and Romero's 3/16 scale of the Alfred/ Warrior. But to date no one has actually finished a model, to my knowledge.

3D design and printing is the next level in model ship building, in Fusion360 you can design the engine to actually work by using a small air pump. Now this is model engineering. I can imagine an engine room model of the Indiana with a small air pump in the display base. Flip the switch and...

    3d printing

i have been working with AutoCad for years and stick with AutoCad14 on an old computer running windows 7. if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. i know autocad very well so doing the 2D drawing in autocad14 then save as a DXF which i bring into Fusion360. having worked with other 3D modeling...

    3d printing

In the 5th screenshot of the failed print, it looked like the bottom of the bookmark is not a single flat surface, and the first photo certainly suggests the same. Could that be it? Is it your stl or downloaded off the web? Another thin possibility is near invisible artefacts from cutting in the...

    3d printing

at the rate i am going it might take a long long time to 3d model this engine in fusion360 a bit over my skill level at this point but muddling through it each and every part is modeled separately then joined together and then printed as parts. I must say one heck of a kit to build it. it is...

Kevin, Just so you know the Creality slicing software is identical to Cura. I think I read somewhere that Creality just repackages the Cura software. i heard the same thing in a you tube tutorials There shouldn't be any need for a raft for that bookmark, it's plenty big enough. that is true...

    3d printing

the print she is really small at 3/16 scale so something this small would require the setting to be high resolution this was printed on the normal setting just to see if will print the detail is there but because of the light and reflection you can not see it in the picture now i have to...

    3d printing

the figures on the corners of the stern in the print program first off just her feet touching the bed will not be enough to hold the piece in place and the bottom of her dress is not supported so the print no doubt will fail. before you print you have to add supports in sections that...

    3d printing

this is a failed print of a book marker a very simple object that would not stick to the bed. I kept playing with the nozzle offset bring it closer to the bed and then backing it off, changing the temp of the nozzle and the bed but still nothing. so i went back to the program and found the...

    3d printing

that is a great idea i read people use hair spray on their bed but i found that to be a little messy. some will make a "raft" with a bigger foot print to hold tight to the bed then print the part on the raft getting you piece to stick to the bed is a big deal

    3d printing

That depends on how many members here actually do 3d printing and the amount of interest and posts on the subject. making Spaghetti is caused by the nozzle offset that is how far from the surface you are if you are to high then the extruded plastic does not stick to the base or to the layer.

    Hancock

i have not finished all the cad work and laser cutting files for the framing but i hope to keep this cost way down. the biggest cost was the 3D sculpture work and 3D printing but i took the leap into 3D printing which cost much less when done in house. i can never hope to be paid for the time...

Very happy to have found this group.

i don't see an answer to your question about the keel I have a question: can anyone tell me what the width of the Bluenose keel was? Could it have been 18 inches? are you asking about the sided dimension? i think 18 inches is way to big for that or the shape of the keel and deadwood? we try...
