Hello all,
I got this HMS Fly kit in the mail a couple days ago. I started looking around after references and found plenty of good build logs on this and other forums as well as some books and original plans that will all be helpful for this build.
Some interesting info I found from the first...
Hello Everybody,
I'm since +- 2 weeks member and in this context I would like to actively participate in the group.
Yesterday, I received the kit and the upgrade kit.
It is my intention to honestly write my experience and activities, and will post on a regular base photo's and comments.

I posted a sail rigging question in the General topics/help section of SOS for my HMS Fly build. I have decided to add a build log to cover the sail installation. The bowsprit will be the first set of sails and will be furled.
I didn’t do a complete build log for H.M.S. Fly because I posted...
Received the Fly yesterday and at the moment looking at the plans and bits and pieces , this will be a lengthy project and looking forward to this project , it doesn’t come with a base and pedestals so will have to order them separately ASAP, also I follow my partner in crime Nomad (LOL) closely...

Cabin Furniture
In my, HMS Fly build I have incorporated the Great Cabin, Stateroom, and Coach Cabin, and into each of these cabins I have constructed 1:64 scale furniture using acetate film, and a combination of Paint Shop Pro graphic design and origami with a plastic film.
A sharp craft...
Oh Happy Day!!! I am finally starting to put in place the pieces to begin this adventure in ship building and honouring my family history. I have mentioned in other logs that I was planning on doing a build based on a family historical event. As most historical events passed on through the...
I finally received my HMS Fly yesterday and after much review am excited to share this build log with everyone.
These first 4 photos represent punch out, dry fit, sanding in various locations to get a comfortable fit, and finally
glue up. Had it not been for information from this group as well...
Ok finally have my first wooden ship project underway. I’ve been wanting to start and reading about wooden ships for 10 years so it’s about time. First question as the first piece i handled already doesn’t match the plan, please see photo. Ive looked at many Swan class builds and this wasn’t...
This is my build log for HMS Fly which I started 3 years ago. It's my first wooden ship model and something I've wanted to do for many years since I used to roam about in the Royal Navy Museums in Portsmouth Royal Dockyard back in the 70s. I was serving in the Royal Navy at the time and spent...
