There is a group in Sausalito, CA building a full scale brigantine:

Looks like an interesting project, and I've heard they are very friendly to visitors dropping in.

Hi. Norton comes up with a danger warning for that website if I use that link and dumps me out of SoS. Can you tell me the name of the ship, please, and I'll try another way. Cheers.

Sure thing- It's the Matthew Turner. Add Sausalito to that for your search and a lot comes up. I haven't gotten any warnings from the linked page myself.

Many thanks, looks like there's some good vid on YouTube which I'll enjoy. Sometimes Norton may be overly twitchy, but you never know these days! Just by coincidence I watched a programme on PBS America tonight about the schooner Coronet which was really interesting. If you haven't come across this build start here -

I hope the PBS programme is a series about the ship, but I suspect not. Regards.

I haven't been there yet, though it's just across the bay from me. I know a couple people connected with the project, including a gentleman who made the display model of the ship and another who is a volunteer at the shipyard. Word is, stop by and they'll let you in to have a look at the project and will probably show you around.

I saw some photos that someone had showing the transportation of the massive keel from Oregon or Washington. Also, interesting how the frames are laminated wood and very strong.
