1/30 Royal Caroline keel extension/ modification

thanks again.. so the piece you are holding (@20mm) that needs to fit in..did you extend the hull in that area or are you doing that on the next RC? I'm liking the idea of moving the stern gallery window carving back, then working fwd for gunport alignment..seems easier than the logistics of extending hull ,deck etc.

ok..should have waited for the msg to reach AU,,I have the extension pic.. all good..now , I think I'll make that modification. You have been a great help...If you want to sell the instruction book, let me know.. the rest I can translate..After this , I'll be able to order in Chinese at the local restaurant.

I will be doing that on the next RC,

By moving the window back you solve the problem up to the fourth gunport, then you have to squash the four gun ports and the carvings into that area, see below, I will take another pic showing all the gun ports and carvings laid beneath that area then you will see what i mean, gonna have some lunch now,

G'day this is a link to another RC build where we discuss adding the extension piece to the hull, scroll down the page a bit,

hope this helps.

Are you wanting the written instructions in English, I have them my friend translated them, but I dont know what they are like as I nearly finished my RC when I got them,

Looks like I'll have to call the 10 yr old if I can't find it ! I'm googling the boot issue so don't concern yourself with that..old spare computer I thought I could use for the discs...I'll see.. reading Maarten's blog (and yours) page by page...lots of good ideas.. I plan to change the type of wood for the following: deck, Queen's quarters in mahogany..I have alot of it from hurricane. ( In Florida, I witnessed old growth Cuban mahogany destroyed to put in a car wash,,I already had a whole tree, but it broke my heart.)...Gabon ebony for Wales, bitts.. I scratchbuilt a frigate and used ebony and basswood for the parquet floor..turned out nice.. plan to light her.. did the pear wood upgrade , so carvings will not be gilted..maybe crests,etc.. thinking of hull opening mini diorama
so i'm thinking about 30 mm keel extension..what do you think? Thanks in advance..I'll look for the pdf...hopefully get my Cath out Wed...no more being waited on by my wife! Please send me one roo and a koala..no brown snakes..we have enough in FL!
