I have almost completed the fist planking later and looking forward to keel placement. The bottom keel, bow and stern posts are 1.2mm thinner than the keel. The plans show tapering the keel and installing the second layer of planking over the top. Since this only gets planked this way halfway back.
My idea is to install the (false) keel first and then plank the whole thing allowing the thickness to be the same from bow to stern. Since I am not trying to create an accurate scale model this seems to be an easy way out. Btw,the whole kit is just an approximation and not a real ship
Any suggestions

Kinda hard to visualize. Photos and/or drawings would help.
