Hello everyone, I'm a Scotsman living and working in Western Australia near Perth. It's been great to come across this community, and I've enjoyed looking at some of the projects - it's inspirational!

After 30 years of building plastic ships (mainly warships), and slowly building up my skills I've finally begun working on some wooden models. At the moment I'm half-way through constructing a Faroese Yawl from Billings, converting it to look like The Johanna. I sailed on her about 10 years ago - and it's where I got to know my wife for the first time. I'm hoping to finish her for our anniversary. Now the scary part - the sails and the rigging. Wish me good luck!

slowly building up the hull. I noticed after completing the stern that The Johanna has a flat stern section, not curved. Instead of starting again I just went with it. For my first woden model I'm happy with the progress so far.

A pleasing hull form, and pre-sanding. Lots of filler for all the holes, but overall not bad I hope for a first effort.

Where I'm up to. First paint applied, and the deck planking installed. Lots of touching up to do, varnishing, and many fittings to go - but overall a really enjoyable process so far!

It was probably made around the same time - I bought it from a friend who had had it in their attic since the 1980s apparently!

Um ... your wife or the ship? Should we be concerned?

Kidding mate ROTF Welcome to the forum. You have quite a nice build in progress.
