A simple copy jig for Proxxon Mill ??

I saw a video recently where someone was copying a curved part on a mill. The jig was fairly simple it seemed. He was using a stand held motor tool I believe moving it following a pattern he made of aluminum. Has anyone seen this and know where I can find it ? Has anyone made similar ? I want to make one but for my mill but where I'd be moving the part itself into the cutter following a pattern.

Finished I hope. The hold downs can be moved. The guide pin I can make shorter if I run into problems keeping the work piece straight. The work piece may just work being held with the clamps. It is only wood we’re working with. I may cut a piece of plexiglass or use a Bakelite plate I have for the base instead of the MDF. The pattern is just a piece I had here for a sample.

Thats a pretty cool set-up. Is that big, long table mounted directly to your cross slide, or is it more of a bridge over the top but resting on the bench top?

I might suggest rounding the end of your guide so that it moves more smoothly over the pattern and will permit you to get smaller details. I think you idea of shortening it is spot-on.

Based on my own experience, I wouldn’t think the spring clamps would be enough to keep your workpiece from moving, but I may be wrong on that. An L-shaped piece of flat stock attached to the table as a backer would keep things steady, while still allowing you to change pieces quickly with the spring clamps.
 
The MDF is bolted on the X/Y table yes. The aluminum bar has two feet the small round one and a bigger block of aluminum on the right. Agree the shorter the guide pin the easier it’ll be to stay parallel. The template is wood here but I wouldn’t use that in practice. I have Teflon I can use for templates, the pin will slide easily, it’s tapered and round at the very tip. Clamping both template and work piece will be dependent on how many and how complex they are. Maybe I’ll make a piece of plexiglass as big as the MDF and drill and tap it like my other one then I’ll have many work holding options. The work piece is not going to be easy to hold, have to think of something. Have to test it still as it is. I want to try to mill on the side closest to me too to get a true copy not a mirrored one.
