Hello all, Glen here on the outskirts of Sydney, getting through a cold winter (cold for us anyway).
I started life in the merchant navy, shipping steel and all sorts of goods from Australia to New Zealand and around the coast, although this was many years ago now.
I'm a newbie with only 4 builds completed, OcCre's Polaris, AL's Endeavour Longboat, Harvey and just finished AL's Santa Maria. I appreciate the learning curve in new crafts so tried to be smart and not start on HMS Victory! Turns out I was right because getting one of these ships together is a commitment in time, patience (I never knew I had) and learning new skills, but the satisfaction factor is huge.
My current build is the Amati Pinta, which is also a new experience, going from the step by step photos of Artesania and OcCre to plans and written instructions, although there is a small picture booklet too. I thought this kit was an easy next step, only two sheets of plans and they're pretty easy anyway.
In my stash, and probably in build order, I have AL's L'Hermione, Model Shipways Emma C Berry, Caldercraft's Bounty, and Constructo's Endeavour. We have a replica of Endeavour right here in Sydney harbour so that will be handy for reference.
Ok, looking forward to using the site and contributing where I can at some point. All the best
Glen
