I built the Amerigo Vespucci from 2005-2015. It was a massive project, but I'm still enjoying the results today. For me, the most special time was the construction of the stand that the Amerigo is now resting on. I received a section of an oak tree (with the bark still attached) from an acquaintance, and created the stand from that. Also, I discovered at some point during the built that I inserted the main deck upside down. This meant that one of the hatches was on the left side of the ship, instead of on the right side. So I promptly decided to mirror the entire ship along its center line :) That's why the red light is on the right, and the green light is on the left. Also, the launches have been put in different places, and there are two sets of stairs on the right instead of on the left. I did, however, keep the name of the ship as 'Amerigo Vespucci', because mirroring that seemed ugly and beyond a mere joke. Enjoy the pictures!
