This is coming along, at the needlework stage. I had to think about having to tie all those chocks so I used an old fishing fly tool and a piece of wire to hold them, I could do 20 at a time. The turn table really helps to turn around the project. Still figuring out as I go.
Just trying to figure out this site!!

Magnificent model! Those fly tying vices are very useful, I have one as well.
I too am still trying to learn how to do this model Forum thing. It is a very nice community!

Not sure what rattle means? This is my first ship model, but looking at others completed models I'm feeling like a rookie for sure. I do appreciate the comments. Below also is an example of my usual models. 20221106_141006.jpg

I meant tying the ratlines on the shrouds, the horizontal ropes that allow crew to climb to the mast heads. I didn't see them in your photos, but maybe I'm missing something. If so, I apologize! I built the Heller plastic model, & she looks great, but not as good as your wooden version! She's a magnificent ship! Well done!

I just dab a bit of glue with toothpick and applied the thread. Thanks for the question, I appreciate learning from others.

I really like your block stropping technique! I have all the necessary tools, including the fly tying vice. Much more efficient than my one at a time procedure! I plan to give it a try. I also love the car model. IN WOOD! Was that all hand fabricated? What wood varieties? The choice for the rag top was very clever, the grain emulating the cloth. A great illusion. And the finish! Spectacular! Okay
I also love looking around your workshop, with the antique tools on the walls and a few pieces of antique furniture as well.:D How do you keep it all looking so organized, clean and tidy? Mine looks like a gale blew through!
Your Amerigo Vespucci is already a masterpiece. Congratulations! You should be very proud. Clearly you are a well practiced, experienced and accomplished craftsman. It shows.

Thank you, the furniture is all things I made. I post all my other projects on craftisian user name Tim0001. I gave the ship a try because I'm on crutches for 3 months and I can sit to work. Been at it since April. Really enjoying the build. I'll need to make a display case and stand I need I can walk again.

Pretty impressive "off your feet" project. And in record time since April along with what must be an exhausting recovery. I hope that is coming together as well and as efficiently as your model! I guess you made the chest of drawers AND the rocker? Sweet! Okay

Pete;)

Congratulations for finishing this great model
Hope that we can follow your next project within a building log

I agree with Uwek!
Don't compare yourself with other modeler's work. I find that when I do I always fall short in my own estimation. I think most of us tend to be our own harshest critics. Valid criticism should ALWAYS come in the form of constructive advice. Everybody on this forum wants you to succeed. Which, in this case you have done spectacularly! Thumbs-Up

Pete

Thanks Peter. Your correct, I very much enjoyed the build, and am quite proud of the result and that was the goal. I did learn from others and can use what I learned in many ways. The great builders on this site are very much inspiring and sharing their efforts is much appreciated and enjoyed.

Peter is absolutely correct! And, TimV, I'm comparing your build pics with my Heller plastic model of the Vespucci, & they look so similar, it's scary! The only difference I can really see is that the mast length on your model looks more realistic. The Heller model masts appear to be too short to me, but I have to live with it.

Gorgeous! Okay Gold StarGold StarGold StarGold StarGold Star
That's Quite a sideboard you've got her resting on also. Looks like Olive-Ash burl veneer. And the corner cupboard is nice as well. Remember, you're talking to an old furniture guy.
The model is wonderful, Great job on the case as well. I like the blue background. It obscures any distracting visual behind it and puts the focus where it belongs. On the model! Great work. It does you proud!
It is fun comparing her details to those on the real ship in the marvelous pictures you have supplied. :D Thanks for those too.
