Hello Friends of the forum. In my YT travels, yesterday, I discovered this wholly unique build of Soleil Royal in what appears to be 1:48:
There are a whole series of short videos of the model at various stages of the rigging process. Don’t worry though - the video of six pall-bearers carrying the model through a building is not tragic. Although it looks as though a glass case has collapsed on the rig, the upper mast sections are merely collapsed for ease of movement.
The model maker does an admirable job of filling-in the blanks on Tanneron’s interpretation of the ship. There is some creative license taken with the ornamentals on the bulwarks, but it is done in such an interesting and tasteful way that it is most definitely additive. The hull form and sheer look pretty much on-the-mark to me. I would love to see this model in-person.
