Hi everyone, need some advice please, I have always wanted to do an ANCRE BUILD I think my skill level is there right now for a HULL MODEL POF for one of there simpler monographs, the one thing stopping me is a BUILDING JIG, due to age(81) eye sight, etc CAN NOT DO IT MYSELF, DOES ANYONE KNOW OF SOMEONE to LASSER CUT a jig based on a framing plan and at what price WELL DAVE STEVENS AT THE LUMBERYARD. THANKS IN ADVANCE Don

Hi Don

I can not help with laser cutting as I am in the UK and are unfamiliar with companies where you live.Assuming you are building the hull the right way up,not Hahn style, the framing jig does not have to be an intricate shape.Yes the Chinese kits employ an intricate laser cut sheet for framing alignment but this isn't how it used to be done.
It is simply a case of choosing which waterline section you are going to use for the cradle and pasting the a copy of the plan to a sheet of plywood. The simple profile is then cut out.As frames are set in the building cradle, little wooden spacers are then glued to this sheet as you progress.
This is a simple profile to cut out,no need to include all the little ears in the profile. These won't work anyway if your frames taper in two directions, you would struggle to actually sit the frame in place. Not only that, the jig will need tweaking as you go to allow for the green you have included in your frame construction to allow for fairing.

Kind Regards

Nigel
