I have got bored of some of my other builds so I forgot about this one until I opened a box and found it hiding.
I brought from a boot sale for £5 last year.
So it's time to see how i get on with it most of the planking has been done a few other bits to put right one was the deck piece on the stern was attached wrong so I have put that right.
Time to show what I got to play with. IMG_20240727_190541.jpgIMG_20240727_190649.jpgIMG_20240727_190623.jpgIMG_20240727_190721.jpgIMG_20240727_190746.jpgIMG_20240727_190808.jpgIMG_20240727_190828.jpgIMG_20240727_190952.jpgIMG_20240727_190836.jpg

One of the first jobs to do is finishing off the planking only two each side and I found out that the previous builder only nailed the planks on but that's OK as there will be a second layer that will cover them over IMG_20240729_084108.jpgIMG_20240729_084057.jpg

This is , in my humble opinion, the kit the most abandoned in all history. I have one (same sort of price, same condition or worse) that i have just started to rebuild allthough i have other projects on the go. I intend to finally do justice to this much maligned goelette.

Did you do the second planking & if so do you have any details ie
1 type of glue used
2 did you use contact adhesiove or nails to fix your second planks
3 what order was your second planking
As I am close to the second planking on an old le Hussard Model, any info would be good

i always second plank with contact adhesive, sometimes (rarely)cyano if it is a really odd curvy bit . No nails are necessary . As far as order goes i usually have to put one or two at the top, against the deck edge but then i go direct to the keel and start to work upwards with the correct taper to fill the space that is left.
I usually calculate the taper, then i make a stack of strips held together with a touch of cyano at the end, then i simply sand the whole block down to the calculated taper. i then cut/split the glue apart one by one as i glue to the ship.
