Ayrton Senna’s Lotus Renault 97T 1:8 Scale Metal

a good start - and I wish you a lot of fun building this racecar

One question: will these screwheads later on somehow covered? is there something foreseen in the kit?

Thank you Uwe for your reply. My thoughts are since the kit is relatively inexpensive (doesn't cost that much), I do not see DeAgostini adding anything to cover the screws. It would be good for them to produce f.e., a tiny black stick-on circle to cover. I am sure that a little Flat Black or Matte Black paint will be good.
However, thank you for the idea.

The latest. My apologies, but I realized that I had installed all the parts and did not layout the parts before hand. It is basically straight forward. The left and right wings attach to the front part fenders wells along with the support struts.

Great build log Donnie !
I'm thinking of building a F1 car also. - I've built built several large scale Legos Models (Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari) and just found out that Pocher makes a 1/8 scale 1972 Emerson Fittipaldi F1 car - expensive- around $ 700- but that would be a lot of fun to build. What do you think ?

Alex,
I think Dean62 built the Pocher version of this car. This DeAgonstini version is pretty good as well. Here is the DeAgonstini website. You will see that it costs only $1.95 to start. However, the new issues start at around $45, and then as you progress, the issues cost about $95 each shipment. However, I still think it is worth it. The instructions are very precise and detailed, with written and visual instructions.

Here are the latest pics of the build, which includes building more of the front end with brakes, wheels, etc.

Awesome build ! I checked the D'Agositini site, and it seems they no longer sell the F1 kit. I actually need to have it all shipped at once rather than in installments since I build cars and planes during the summers and when skiing while in my second home in Park City, Utah. ( I am lucky and blessed !). I'll probably go for the F1 Pocher, although they recently released a 1/8 Porsche 917....we'll see, but I'm more inclined to the F1 Lotus -Fittipaldi. I saw Dean62's build-thanks for sending me there- what a great build....Thanks again.

This build has been put on hold due to a missing part from shipping. However, I would like to comment. I have not had any problems with DeAgostini except for this one incident so far (I am just waiting for the missing parts).

Now, here is the deal that you must take into consideration. Make sure you use a credit card that will NOT expire, or you could have any other problems with the card of your choice. My Debit / Credit Card had to be updated on my account. Their website is NOT good at updating information, especially when making changes to payment methods or if you need to make other changes.

I wrote a support ticket and they claim they are working on the website. I also called customer service and they WOULD NOT update my CC info over the phone either. Ridiculous.

In short, when or if you ever subscribe to one of their part builds make 100% SURE you are entering ALL correct information the first time and use a GOOD credit card that you know will not EXPIRE or have enough funds. If anything about your information changes, the website is very poor. When you click to edit, the changes DO NOT work.

I am back to this build again. A combination of waiting for parts that were missing and also a long delay in shipping probably due to the bad ice / snow storms last few weeks ago.

Not much to report here -
Finally was able to build the other tire - wheel - hub assembly (which was missing). Then the instrument cluster was installed along with the roll bars.

A little more work to get caught up on before another set of parts come in.

These photos are some type of cabling for some small meters to the lower right cockpit. (manometers ?) and the path these cables take.
