Batavia 1628 (1:72) Kolderstok Build log

Last week a forum member asked me about the quality of the figures and castings of my Batavia.
In early days they were less detailed than they are now. So also for other members I place some images so everybody can judge for oneself.

PS: They all come "grey." You have to color them yourself.

Here the update on Main Topsail.
Images say more than words. So the process.

Small mistake with the Main topbrace. (wrong position)

And the correct position. Or there will be a problem with the mizzen topsail.

Next week will be work on the Main topgallant sail.
Great week everybody. Thumbs-Up

A nice ‘furled’ progress, Clemens. This gives her a completely different impressive look.
Regards, Peter

Update of last week. was working last week on the Main topgallant sail. Placing all blocks, lines and ropes.
Yesterday, I hung up the Main topgallant sail.

Next week, I’ll be securing all the lines for the Main topgallant sail to their designated belaying points.
Since the Main topgallant sail bowlines are the final two lines to be belayed on the forecastle deck pinrails, I can then start finishing off everything from the bow back to ..... ?? We will see how far.

Until next update.

This past week, I’ve been working solely on rigging the lines and tackles on the forecastle deck.
I’m making decent progress on the beakhead, but it’s not finished yet—so no photos of that today, either.
But I do have some of the forecastle deck. With a bit of dust here and there.

Next week we will continue with the galleon and work on the mizzen mast.

Until the next update and have a pleasant construction week.

Thanks for all the likes. It’s great to see and is much appreciated. Thumbs-Up
I’ve been working on the galleon over the past week. All the lines had to be secured in their final positions. Not all of them are taut, the bowlines and the two foresail tack lines are hanging slack, secured to the galleon structure.
I’ve also installed all the rope coils and fakes. It’s a tangle of lines and ropes.
But with patience and after occasionally routing a line the wrong way around existing rigging, everything eventually finds its correct belaying point or pin, free of any chafing crossings.
I’m very pleased with the result. Here are a few photos.

A few ropes still have some "wrinkles". I hope that I can change it a little more beautiful in time. Suggestions are welcome.

Next week, I’ll continue working on the detailing of the mizzenmast.
And perhaps I’ll also paint some "knights."
Variety is such a great part of this hobby.

See you in the next update.
