There's also steam bending. But that might be a little excessive for a model ship.

Several modelers here in our forum have their small selfmade steambox for steaming the wood before bending...... so not completely unusual

IMHO bending of allready fully moisturized wood by applying pressure and applying warm air with a blower at 250-300 Celcius at the same time is actually an instant steam bending.
