Would like to know what people got to offer for this 17th Century Warship / Smal frigate / War Pinnace.

I havent found any on the internet in this type of scale, and it was not a simple construction kit.
Builder unkown; it was a gift to my parents in law a few years ago. They estimate it to be Build 30 years ago.

Fought in an important role during the batlle of Oliwa 1627. Defeating the swedish fleet.
More information can be found at Wikipedia.

" Wodnik / Meermann " of scale specifications:

Material; Wood.

Height 80 centimeters. ( from bottem up to top middle mast)

Length 105 centimeters

Width 38 centimeters

Sorry, but what you are offering is a “decorator” model. These models are produced showing the general characteristics of the real ship of its type but are not historically accurate. Value: Verry Little.

This model was build by hand and was not produced on a greater scale.

but if so, tell me how would you tell?

Dear Sir

This type of question is very difficult to answer for a number of reasons. How much people would be willing to pay would depend on their priorities. people who place a premium on historical accuracy will probably not be interestedf at all. The main issue is that due to a lack of information, there is no consensus as to what the Meerman would have looked liked.

Please see Tomek's (@0Seahorse) full article on the reconstruction of the above ship and you will understand what I mean.

One thing that I can tell you is that the model that you show is built in a generic "Spanish Galleon style" which the Meerman was definitely not. The latter would rather have had much more of a Dutch pinnace-character to it.

Two more factors that could determine the value of a model would be the artistic quality displayed and the sentimental value that the model holds for someone. From an artistic point of view, your photographs show an "average-built" model - not bad, nut nothing out of the ordinary.

Therefore, the fact that the model was given to your in-laws a few years ago, would constitute the only value that it has. As you know that would be highly subjective and depends entirely on you.

Viewed from an overall and completely objective point of view, I have to concur with the earlier member's estimation. I hope it explains it a bit better.

Thank you for your time giving such an information rich answere.

I did some research myself on the boat. And couldnt find strong information myself iether.

Anyway, my family in-law insisted me the ship being the "wodnik" .

Thanks for the clarity.

Biddings are obviously still open. Because i have no clue what some one is willing to give for it.

So if anyone's intrested, feel free!

While the intrinsic value is virtually zero, the sentimental value is limitless. If your in-laws like it and want to believe it is a real ship there is nothing to be gained by forcing reality on them.
