Been a rough couple years for me battling cancer i was unable to finish the Black Pearl myself I had my son set the masts and rig the ship along with furreling the sails and finish paint work but it's now complete and sitting on a mantle in my Grandson's room attached are the finished pictures could have done more but it was beyond my son's skill set

Ty Brother, I'm happy to be back to it. One thing for sure the experience has humbled me. I'm not that tuff young man anymore. I have to admit I contemplated just giving up. Fortunately thats not the person I am, I don't give up.

Being a novice what would you think is the best type of wood for the planking of the hull?

Trying to gather as much information along the way as possible so spill planking is putting a second planking over the first one?

Is the main wale thicker then the rest of the planking, also are the fill blocks that used in the bow balsa? and lastly do you know the name of the stain used on the ship at the top of this page it looks really cool. By the way you have been a lot of help on my first build since I'm building according to your log. Rick
