"they don't take kindly to Yankee pirates".I have not built that, but it's a VERY nice looking privateer ship! Don't tell any of the Britishs member you are going to built that though... they don't take kindly to Yankee pirates. The stern should look something like this, the Baltimore clipper Halcon, except without the curve counter just below the transom. The instructions assume you know how to plank a hull. If you don't this will be a huge learning experience!

View attachment 493835See the three horizontal planks that make up the transom? See the deck at the bottom? The hull planks beneath the transom twist until the ends are almost horizontal. The ends of the hull planks run along the bottom edge of the transom. Soak the planks in water to soften them before you try twisting and bending the into shape. Hold them at the desired shape on the hull, and LET THEM DRY. If you try to force the springy planks in position and use glue to hold them there, they won't stay in place. You make need to fill a trangular gap in the hull on each side with a stealer plank:

The last few planks run up the sides, forming the bulwarks.

You will do it proud, Bill. Use build logs from other Black Prince builders as a guide if you can find them. Most of your questions arising from trying to make sense of the plans should be answered then. The Black Prince is a handsome sloop. Ask detailed and specific questions of the this forum membership if you get stuck.Black Prince is my first attempt at wood ship building.
The model itself seems to be of good quality but the plans are the worst .
You need a magnifying glass to read page one after you find instructions in your native language.
The parts list is in inches. The plans are metric. I chose the wrong kit.
I’m still going for it tho.
