Blackening of anchors from Amati made of white metal (Britannia metal).
Dissolve the copper sulfate in water (a teaspoon per glass of water), rub the anchor with the resulting solution using a cotton swab, then wash in water with ordinary soap. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

I use a product called Brass Black. It works on brass, steel, white metal, copper.
That's all I've tried it on and it works every time.

I must confess my sins…I usually paint such parts flat black…

I have heard the biggest secret to getting a good finish is a good and proper prep job before placing in the blacking agent.

Most use a vinegar mix after a good soap and water to clean the mold lube off the parts.
