I'm back at modeling now that my handiacpped son is buried. I chose the Blue Jacket Constitution as a restarter because this is our 250th anniversary and this vesel played an important part in our beginning as a nation. Any hints or helps would be appreciated.

Depending on your priorities for the model, you can get a lot of information from the curators at the USS Constitution museum if the details matter to you. If you're happy with the kit as is, go for it, enjoy. If you want to do some research for more details, the folks there have always been very helpful. I left off his email address as it is a very bad idea to post anyone's email address on forums like this, but you can reach him through the museum website.

I actually visited Conny many years ago. Since I'm getting back to modeling since my handicapped son died I better stick to the directions for a starter.

For a starter kit, there are a lot of good choices. Connie may be too much for a starter. Your model, your call, as it should be. :)

I built ships. Then a handicapped son came along. He died last September. His mom died in 2001. The kit may be demanding but I'm in no hurry and have this site to mine for info.
My condolences for the passing of your son and wife. Losing a child has to be more painful than I can understand. I hope your building the Constitution can help assuage some of your pain. Take your time and enjoy the build. For large builds I have only built a Constitution cross section, but even that took me over a year. I find it is the build (the journey itself, as it were) the most satisfying part of the adventure.

I will be following along!

Appreciate your sympathy. My boy was nonverbal and that made it harder. The build is the goal. Solving the problems is the meat of the issue and that;'s what I'm looking for. Requiring I be precise in what I do helps keep my mind clear and helps with the blues. My first goal is READING the instructions completely. BTW, I bought a fresh box of Band-Aids...LoL

Very sorry for your loss.

I hope that your USS Constitution model will bring you much happiness.
