After taking time off for the summer I'm ready for cabin detailing and adding the hull waterline, lots sanding before and after of priming starting with a thin coat of Micro Mark vinyl sealer, an automotive primer next, and subsequently multiple coats flat enamel spray primer/paint. The deck will be stained coastal grey, the lower and top cabin roofs will be painted emerald green with yellow hand rails top & lower, black trim on all windows, and black trim on exterior and interior cockpit moldings & rails The bottom paint will be red oxide with a black waterline. I found this Bluejacket kit to be missing some pre lazar notches and a drilled hole for the engine exhaust stack which will be protruding out through the cockpit cabin roof, as ush i have to customize the exhaust. But overall I'm pretty satisfied with the progress thus far for it being my first attempt at bow to stern strip planking. Just hope it turns out as nice as some others models I see posted on SOS. Great looking model Darryl. With this type of vessel at this scale there are lots of opportunities for extra details. I'm looking forward to seeing your final paint scheme. I must ask, do you plan to make it RC?

Jim, coincidently my wife also asked me about instating a motor, the Bluejacket plan & instruction booklet does not include a running motor & drive shaft, its a model kit for display only, although I think it world be a great option to choose from. I'm too far ahead with the project to kit bash installation of a motor and drive shaft, maybe next time. Darryl
