Hello, swabs. Weeb logging-in from Victoria, Canada. August 22, 2026. Permission to come aboard? Model Shipways MS2130 "Bluenose" delivered and will commence in October having been inspired by Gary Brinker's start-to-finish account (2010) - good humoured wisdom. Gary, if you're still tuned into this frequency, salutations. I hope to approximate your excellence.
Completed an MS Friendship Sloop 2 years ago adapted to closely match my brother Pat's (R.I.P.) - 3/4 size all-wood Friendship Sloop, Jasmine, built in Victoria. He sailed her on Sylvan Lake, Alberta for several years. Photos attached. That's a cutout of Pat to scale. Photos him at a fine point of sail and the day he bought her in Sidney, BC, circa 1996.

Thank you all for your welcomes and very savvy information and advice and marvellous builds. Looking forward to the voyage. Recently picked up a friend's Catalina 22 (Kahuna) at dock in Otter Bay, Pender Island, and had a lovely broad reach to his home port in Sidney. Lots of "ropes" even on a wee thing like the C22. (I had replaced all the standing and running rigging on Kahuna 12 years ago). The Bluenose rigging is a quantum leap. See you in November.
