CD is an obsolete media for a while. Computers and car media players are built without CD players. I personally have no means to play CD or DVD anymore for last 10 years.
Gentlemen, I believe OldGrayMan wasn’t asking about today’s use of technology. He was asking for your subjective opinion on whether the information on those practicum CDs is worth buying.I too have not used CD,s for a long time but when I bought a Artesania Latina Sopwith Camel kit it came with a cd with all the instructions for building on the cd. Therefore I bought a cd player and plugged it into my laptop and of course it works. It costs very little as well.
My advice is go for it
Thanks, Jim. You are correct (has your wife ever said that to youGentlemen, I believe OldGrayMan wasn’t asking about today’s use of technology. He was asking for your subjective opinion on whether the information on those practicum CDs is worth buying.![]()
?). My apologies for addressing a question that was not asked. I hate thread drift and now I am party to it...It depends. How many ship models have you built. Are you likely to under what he is describing with just words, or do you think some pictures might help. I've purchased a few of his practicums and I've got all of them with the additional pictures. It's not that much more and the pictures help to explain what is going on. Yes, I had to buy an external CD/DVD drive for my computer, but they are not expensive and plug into a USB port.I am considering buying Bob Hunts Constitution practicum, is the photo CD worth the extra cost?
For someone who values accuracy, understands structure, and isn’t afraid of slowing down, it’s absolutely worth buying, IMHO. It’s text-heavy and not flashy by modern standards (not a step-by-step photo manual). Assumes patience and careful reading, this is not “instant gratification” content. Most useful if you already care about correctness and technique. Even builders who don’t finish Constitution often say the practicum improves everything they build afterward.I am considering buying Bob Hunts Constitution practicum, is the photo CD worth the extra cost?
