I have used the Brass Black in the past...especially on brass cannons. Not always satisfied with the results. Lately I have resorted to painting brass using various acrylic colours such as flat black, gloss black, and a colour by Model Expo called cannon black. The cannon black has a grey tone to it. To successfully paint brass cannons they need to be clean, and then a thin coat applied so that the paint does not create a thickened look and fill in details. A thin coat covers consistently and allows for all detail to be shown. The paint does not want to overwhelm the part. Anyway...an alternate idea.
