Brass keel mounts

I am looking ahead (a couple of years at my present build rate!) to prepare for how to display my Caldercraft HMS Victory. I have thickened the keel internally in two places to facilitate drilling bolt-holes through the keel to take future fixings. I see photos of a number of completed models that are supported by brass cylindrical mounts fixed to their keels fore and aft. Can anyone point me in the direction of where to buy these? Does anyone have an opinion as to their adequacy, or should I add lateral support amidships also?

It can be kind of tricky to get a good secured hull on just pedestals.
You may get lucky and have great success.
But you may end up adding a couple of small “steadying mounts” either side of the hull.
On one hull I used bare copper rod of small diameter to support the hull.
I just drilled a hole through the base board and slightly rolled the end against the hull over a little.
Worked fine and wasn’t actually attached to the hull.

do you not think that the Victory is too big and heavy to be displayed only on pedistals? I would think that this would be very unstable. Perhaps some supporting carvings or cradle would be more appropriate. If it would tip over, what a disaster.

This is too late your model but:

1. The time for deciding how to display the model is before you start building it.

2. Add blocking to the inside of the hull to drill into and to reinforce the joints between the hull and supports.

3. Consider omitting a separate plinth to attach the supports to. Instead, the supports screw directly into the bottom of the display case.
