Hugo hopes to see more of my model ships. I decided to show one of them.

It was like this.

In one of Larousse's ship encyclopedias I found this picture.

Since I had a nice piece of balsa wood in my stash I decided to build a model of Brazilian Jangada based on that picture. The photos show how it turned out...

Edmund thank you for the post, it is a nice and very well made model , very acurated and most of all in based on a picture, but i also have to ask you how you made the sail? can you show me.
Congratulations again

Hi Hugo.
I am glad you like the jangada.
Unfortunately I didn't take pictures during the construction of the jangada, therefore I can't show how I made the sail. I can however describe the steps. First of all I tried to match the shape of the sail to the mast and boom I made earlier. Then I tried to trace the shapes of the brits using the reference drawing from Larouss'e Encyclopedia. The next step was to zigzag stitch the drawn brits. It remained to color the individual brits a bit, also based on the mentioned drawing. After drying the sail was put on the mast. And there you have it.
