Syren is a fully sailable 1/24 scale R/C model of one of the first ships built for the US Navy.
It is over 6ft (2m) long and originally had model carronades that fired a small black powder charge. They could be fired only once, required making small cartridges by hand and required black powder that presents safety and regulatory issues.
The video shows new electronic carronades, based on a "vape" approach.
Each carronade has a heater and "fog juice" wick, and flashing LED. A CO2 cartridge provides the gas burst and a sound card the "boom" effect. The sequencing of the effects is arduino controlled.
The model is in the shop in the attached vid, but a clip sailing with the old black powder carronades is also attached.
