Pushed the purchase button!!!

Should have a 12" manual Sherline mill (w/accessory package) delivered in the next week or so!!

Watching the results many of you achieve using mills, I decided one was a "must have" before I proceed any further on my scratch build of La Salamandre!

Now I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas to arrive...Hope UPS is faster than Santa!!!!

You are not alone. It is not the most used machine on my work bench but I LOVE the mill and it works great. I worked around not having one with a small press and hand tools for 40 years and now regret I did not get it a lot sooner.

I have a Sherline lathe and for milling a column that sets up the lathe for milling. Works great but having to break down the lathe for milling is a nuisance. It would be nice to have a separate mill.

What is the old saying "to each, their own" I have a mini-Unimat unit which can also be converted from lathe to mill, but then it needs reset and aligned each time you change over.

The Sherline is nicely engineered so that realignment from lathe to mill and vice versa is not necessary. They claim that the conversion takes about a minute which is probably correct but the cross slide must then serve as the milling table and mounting the milling vise is a fiddily job for these old fingers.
