The seats were not actually in the hospital, but a wooden bench outside the main entrance where I had to wait quite a long time before going back to check if the surgery had worked (about an hour) and then another wait for the taxi to take me home.You have my sympathy. A lot of hospital seating (maybe yours too) was designed by a friend of mine specifically to be uncomfortable. But it wasn't intended for waiting areas in UK hospitals- who bought a lot of it - but for railway stations, with the aim of discouraging people who didn't have a train to catch from spending the day tere.
