Starting a new Build log for the Endurance. I Know that several others are also building this ship and of course I will be cheching their builds to help with mine (thank you). But first a little info as to my reason for building these ships :-
1. I like doing it!
2. When finished I send them to my Grandson in a City 3,000 km away. I have already done this once with the Harvey build with no problems. It is all on how you box & pack the ships, (Perth to Melbourne)
3. I am getting older than I though I would get, so I need something to keep the Brain Active

Starting Slowly, I intend to make some additions to the kit (a least try to). I want to install a streering mechanism so the ships wheel actually works & I want to light the internal areas of the ship using LED lights. I had some internal problams with power supply to lights on the ship until I discovered the solution in another build log - An extrernal powers source (batteries) with power feed to the ship through the ship stand.( and the Keel). Well Here we go

Photos are coming in upside down again ??????. you should note I have drilled a hole from the rudder post to the rear deck so the rudder can be controlled. I also reinforced the section in this area

Having sorted out where the electricals will go, I have now started to put the hull together completed the decking so that is only in position to fix the frame positions Opps - upside down again, I not sure why this keep happening - Perhaps someone can tell me what I am doing wrong seems to only happen with JEPGS Deleted JPEG and uploaded PGN

Well first planking basically finished. a lot of sanding to be done. installed contacts in the keel for the internal lighting. batterys are in the stand and conduct from the stand - supports- keel when turned on
Back to the sanding & filler

Back to the sanbding & filler
If you are going to be putting in a second layer of planking, do you need filler in the gaps? Will you be planking the same way or will you be shaping the width and bend of the planks so they do not edge bend and have gaps plus have them all end in the rabbet at the bow? This will save a lot of sanding. :)

Probabley not but the way I have sanded the bow I will certainly need filler there. some at the stern also.
Have spent 3 days sanding and I think it is as good as it is going to get so I have started second Planking.
Bad start though, I put the planking too close together when spreading the CA glue and the planks stuck together and had to be discarded.
Not a trap I will enter the second time

A question to those who may know. did the Endurance have running lights, ie Red, green & white at the mast head. As it sunk in 1915, I would assume it would have had ????????
