Building the Harvey

I have a question dumb it might be to some of yall but on Chucks video how do you figure what the measurements are going to be to mark your hull planks. Is there a video that shows you how to do everything starting from A to Z. With Z being a finished hull?

Thanks every one. I appreciate your input. Having a break in the Kimberlies (West Aust) on a real boat.

Yes. If you watch them all you will get a great result. If you do it correctly the planks will lay so fast and tight you barely need glue. And this is on a single layer system, too. It's a piece of cake if you spend the time correctly measuring, tapering and chamfering then bending. It creates a compound curve plank. As you can see, it works really well.

View attachment 585813Hi, I have finished planking the hull (Badly as it is my first go at a model, not sanded yet) and am at a loss as to how to attache the bulwark's.
I ca get the stern end attached to the transom but how to fix the rest along the deck is a mystery.
The bulwark is a long strip of ply. I have glued vertical strips to the inside and need to cut the canon ports.
Should the outside of the bulwark be inline with the hull and the planking be continuous. In this case I would need t cut back the deck planks.
Is there anyway using some tempoarry support while the glue sets.
Regards
Bill
The kit design is rather poor in this area. One is meant to plank the hull starting from about 4 mm below the deck line. That way, there is 4 mm on which to glue the bottom of the bulwark. As others point out, there are better ways to design this work.

This is poor kit design. You are required to plank the hull, starting at about 4 mm below the deck line. That way, you have 4 mm on which to glue your bulwarks to the top of the bulkheads; messy, and much harder than it should be.
