Can someone help with finding a previous thread?

Hey all,
I searched all over this forum but can't seem to locate a previous thread about curving square sails (in my case, the OcCre Buccaneer). It said something about using spray starch and rolling the sails around a pool noodle to stiffen the sails and make them look like full. There were other suggestions besides the starch one. I'd like to read them all again.

make a pattern first, then use elmers glue and water , let dry .......sail away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stretch the sail along a stick where it's attached to a spar, to keep it straight along that edge. Hang the sail horizontally/flat, adjust the strings at the free corners to get the shape you want. Then apply what ever stiffener you choose; starch diluted in a spray bottle, canned spray starch, diluted PVA, flat or matte clear-coat. Experiment on a some scrap cloth, just-in-case. The burlap that comes with kits tends to defy gravity, so this probably won't work with that.

Hola Vibota7, a mí me resultó bien pero en velas trapezoidales y triangulares pero creo que en la cuadradas también resultará.
Hincha las velas con el secador de pelo a tu gusto regulando la intensidad de aire y una vez así las rocías con laca de pelo. La laca las endurecerá al secarse, casi al instante. Tienes que probar primero si la laca tiñe o no la tela. El resultado es muy realista.

HHi Vibora7, it worked really well for me with trapezoidal and triangular candles, but I think it will work with square ones too. Inflate the candles with a hairdryer, adjusting the intensity. From the air, and once they're like that, spray them with hairspray. The hairspray will harden them as it dries, almost instantly. You have to test first to see if the hairspray stains the fabric or not. The result is very realistic.

HHi Vibora7me, it worked with trapezoidal and triangular candles, and I think with square ones too. Inflate the candles with a hairdryer, adjusting the airflow to your liking. Once they're inflated...Once they're like that, spray them with hairspray. The hairspray will harden them instantly. You should test it first to see if the hairspray stains the fabric or not.
