OK - full disclosure.....this is a mostly complete model. Wasn't able to finish all my details for our local scale model club show this past Saturday, so yes.......I will be finishing up some details over the next little after I decompress after rushing to get this done enough to enter it.

Above is a link to the information on this particular ships which now sails as John D Leitch, as her original owner closed up shop after 100+ years on the great lakes. Upper Lakes Shipping was bought up by Algoma Central Marine in 2011.

This was a joy to build, aside from having to rush towards the show day.

Interesting to see, how big these Great Lakes Steamers were - imagine the small scale the model is build
Many Thanks for sharing with us

The largest is slightly over 1000ft in length. They are really huge motorized floating boxes just slightly smaller than the largest chamber in the SOO locks that control entry into Lake Superior. Despite the doom and gloom about the decline of the North American steel industry the principal cargo is still iron ore mined in northern Minnesota and shipped by rail to the Great Lakes port of Duluth where I live.
