XVI Century armed Portuguese merchantman

I bought a broken one. In principle, I saved it by throwing it in the stove.

Great work and good to see the model being restored. I had a customer bring a HMS Victory model to me a week ago that his wife had knocked off the table by accident. When it hit the floor, it broke the main and fore mast at the top, caused a number of rigging lines to come undone, and cause a dozen or so copper plates to come off. I was able to repair most of the damage and fix the rigging but the model came from China and the color of paint used to paint the yellow ochre was something I wasn't able to match. At first I tried using various oil paints to mix a custom color but just couldn't get even close to matching it. Then I tried different acrylics in the correct color range I bought at Hobby Lobby but still couldn't get a match to touch up the masts. it seems the colors were inconsistent on the model with some parts being on e color and others being another color. i finally gave up on that aspect because anything I might apply would have stood out like a sore thumb.

I think it's important to try and salvage old models like these when they get damaged. They're a part of model ship history. Thanks for sharing.

Great work with the restoration!
You might want to consider getting rid of the belaying pins, which did not exist that time. I also built the Caracca as it was in the kit (with belaying pins) and removed them after a while.
