Now that I’ve finished setting up my new worktable in the garage, I’ll be starting on the Caravel La Pinta from Artesania Latina. Hopefully, it turns out better than the Caravel La Niña, which I completed a month ago. My main challenge so far has been making sure the second planking has a neat finish and is properly aligned at the edges. I’ll be posting some pictures as I move forward and continue along the learning curve.tempImagedA78Tv.jpg

As my fellow modelers wisely advised, first things first—I checked the kit to make sure everything’s there and nothing’s mysteriously turned into splinters. All looks good!

Then reality hit: my garage lighting is about as bright as a candle in a cave. So before I officially dive into this build, I’ll be installing new lights—because working in the dark is a great way to glue my fingers together or drill into something I shouldn’t. One more day of prep... safety (and sanity) first!

Also, I have to say—I’d much prefer printed instructions over a CD. Probably old school, but there’s just something comforting about flipping pages instead of digging out an external drive and squinting at a screen with glue on your fingers.
