I always have a hard time with this - anyone have tips to get the alignment correct when replacing the blades ?
Thanks

Hello Friends,

I installed the blades successfully. The trick is to start with the glib screws to zero while the screws are loose for the blade holder
then adjust. It took plenty of back and forth with the height using the glib screws to get an acceptable result.

I then rubbed down the feed table with steel wool and wax. It is still pulling out small chunks of small wood with the new blades. There may be some issues with the rollers/feed mechanism or my pearwood tears easily.

For now as a tool to rough dimension it works OK. I use my Byrnes Thickness Sander for final dimension/finishing.

Onward !

Also to avoid tearout it's important to have rising grain at the infeed end of the planer. There's a picture in the link even though the planer here is much smaller.
