Chinese warship “TA-ping-chuan”

In the 1830s, when Captain Barrie of the French Navy sailed around the world on the warship "Concubine", he encountered a Chinese warship at the mouth of the Pearl River. This warship was quite different from the others he had seen, with a pointed bow, a round stern, a slender hull, and a veranda at the stern. Captain Barrie measured the ship's data and drew side views, front views, and deck layouts of the ship with large sails and oars. Later, this line drawing was quoted in the book "Sailing Ships and Boats of the Yangtze River" written by Wust. The ship was 36.6 meters long, 7.8 meters wide, with a draft depth of 2.7 meters and a displacement of 200-300 tons. Seeing the line drawing of this ship aroused my great interest, so I gradually collected information and finally completed it after four months.proportion1/64
