I am spending Christmas alone. It has been a yearly experience since I became the last family member alive a few decades ago. I know I am not alone, and I thought perhaps some of us could share some Christmas spirit and cheer with others on this forum.

I want to share this video with you all...

I’ll share…

First off, Mr Humbug here grumbles about the whole ‘Christmas’ madness whipped up by commerce and the associated waste and worthless cr*p which kills the planet, poisons people, and gets thrown out a fortnight later
Let us all revert to a simple thanks for being here, or celebrate turning of the year, the solstice. Whatever gods you believe in you can only rely on the truth of one event. The sun. It demands no belief system to start lengthening/shortening the days. Regular as quality self powered clockwork. ‘We’ used to celebrate the annual event since forever, used to be the feast of Mithras and the cause of great jollity and fun to enliven the short days and long nights. Invite the neighbours and family, roast an ox and have a great time.

And thats what Mr Humbug tries to do - greet strangers in the street with “merry Mithras” or Christmas or Dongzhi. Despite Coca Cola changing the colour scheme from green, and Queen Vic causing the premature death of billions of trees, we should all just get along with each other, share what we have, and look after ourselves, each other, and the planet.
This internet thing isn’t the way Sir Tim invented it, but SofS comes close, as being a friendly, forgiving, sharing place where we can all shoot a yarn, take up a measure of virtual rum ration, or whatever, and wish each other well around the globe.

All of which is to proffer my good wishes to all us miniature ship builders, where’re you may be, and may we all be here and shipbuilding next year.

Good cheer!

Jim
