I have never used it before, but I might try this one,

TICONN PET Plexiglass Sheets, 6 Pack Clear Plastic Sheet, Easy to Cut Thin Flexible PET Plastic Sheeting Panels for DIY Art Projects, Crafts, Picture Frames, Signs (6 Pack, 8"x10")

I have heard of using microscope cover slides, but they tend to be small.

Microscope slide covers, they are actual glass and incredibly thin. They are a bit tricky to work with but once you have working with them down, you'll never go back. And since they're glass, they didn't haze with CA glue.

You might look at Lexan sheets. Modelers use it to form aircraft canopies.

thank for your responses ; I have still some plastic, but when I need, I shall have a look

I've been using the thin plastic sheet that comes taped to the front of a new computer monitor. A single sheet of that will probably last me a lifetime.

Slide covers are excellent.
I've worked in stained glass, so I know how to cut and shape glass. But trying to resize slide covers has proved elusive. I haven't had any success trying to score them with a sharp blade, then snapping them.
Another source of window plastic is clear packaging found on so many products. Some bubble packs for round or tube items make good model aircraft canopies, while flat packaging may be easily cut to shape for windows.

I glue the frame of the window to the uncut slide then use a hobby knife to whittle away the excess. It's not always perfect, but the error is usually behind the frame once it's on the model.
